    “Vintage! Enjoy It! ”

Classic movie! Im reviewing this from the view of a parent of a kid, to help other parents decide if its suitable for your kiddos.First off my Dad always had us watch this around the holidays, and as a grownup Ive grown to really appreciate it. With its own rating I thought, why not let my stepson watch this. He’s 5. There’s nothing like seeing a movie with either your child or your own parents to point out to you the tiny things you missed before that you wish werent happening now.For my child I think it was nice, the only oops minutes were when the narrator is discussing the leg lamp and uses the expression electrified s *x in the window. There is also discussion and mention of this F-Bomb, but no true F Bomb is stated, therefore I think its alright. Its definitely more appropriate for youngsters than most of the crap on regular TV those days! The movie discusses bullying, and shows kids getting in a tussle, therefore its a fantastic way to start a conversation about that. All in all its a great movie for families.

“Youll Shoot Your Eye Out!! Im So Excited, I Cant Wait To See This Together With The Grandkids! ”

I wish to talk about this with my grandkids this season at Christmas! We ALWAYS watched this when my girls were growing up. Whats not to love about Ralphies quest for his Red Ryder 200 Shot Carbine Action Air Rifle? Come on, its a classic! I dont believe I could ever get tired of this movie. This is a 20th anniversary edition and includes two discs. . The movie disc has the selection of both full and wide display. The 2nd disc has all sorts of extras to choose from, even a documentary about the film. This is as great as the movie we watch every year on cable except no advertisements! I adore it!A Christmas Story (Two-Disc Special Edition)

    “Good Copy, With Caveats”

I recall seeing the TV version of a Christmas story for many years because it came out in 1983. I canâ$™t remember watching it on the big screen, but Iâ$™m 60 now so occasionally things like that slip away, but I digress. I had the normal DVD edition of this movie, and played with it for my father who’s a big fan, who watches it several times every season. I thought it’d be fun to have the Kinect edition, so I purchased it thinking it would be the whole tape format. Though it does indeed fit the arrangement of my 16:9 ratio TV, it seems to be cropped from the 4:3 ratio edition of the normal VHS/DVD version of the film. I found out this once I loaded the DVD and Blu-ray in separate players and did reverse back-and-forth test between viewpoints of the same scene, in several areas. This is somewhat unsatisfactory, as Iâ$™Id expected to be able to see more of the activity from the beloved movie. Nevertheless, the picture quality of the Blu-ray version is way better than the standard DVD. I would say though that the sound quality of the Blu-ray is down a step. Both are in mono, however the Blu-ray disc, though it has a brighter, more vivid image, seems to have a more muted sound. I think you should understand all this before you buy this disc.
